This is an event requested by Mr. Gabe Elliot of Grassroots Ecology. This is a great service project, and may meet requirement 9c of Camping merit badge, if approved by your MB counselor. Sign up at feb3coyote.eventbrite.com. See details below.
Intro from Mr. Elliot:
My name is Gabe and I’m one of the organizers of this event (along with my site partner Emma). Registration: feb3coyote.eventbrite.com. Thank you for your consideration for our event. We work with various troops in the Cupertino area for our day-to-day work at Grassroots Ecology and they are always some of our most enthusiastic, engaged and productive volunteers. I am more than happy to answer any questions or concerns – gabe@grassrootsecology.org.
Event Details:
Please join the Watershed Stewards Program, Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful, and Grassroots Ecology to clean up Coyote Creek. Come restore an important section of San Jose’s watershed and make a lasting impact! Coyote Creek is a large, ecologically important creek containing historic salmonid habitat, but it has been significantly degraded by human development and use in recent years. We will be collecting, bagging and documenting trash as well as learning about the natural history and ecology of the area. Come work up an appetite and make a tangible difference in the health of our community [and local creek] before the Super Bowl kicks off. Attendance for the duration of the event is not required.
Who: All are welcome! Minors under 18 require a parent to approve the online waiver when registering for this event, and children under 13 require an accompanying adult. Register: feb3coyote.eventbrite.com
Where: Parking is located at Coyote Creek trail at Selma Olinder Dog Park, 1117 Woodborough Dr, San Jose, CA 95116, USA. Additional street parking is available immediately surrounding the park if needed. There will be event signs and a tent at our meeting place.
Please bring: A reusable water bottle and clothes that can get dirty (sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long sleeves and a hat are recommended). We will provide gloves, tools, and snacks. This event will happen rain or shine, so plan accordingly!
